I grew up in New Orleans, LA in the 1950's and it was like a different world from the New Orleans of today. We had Audubon Park, Pontchartrain Beach, Mardi Gras, Canal St., the French Quarter and the Tulane Sugar Bowl Stadium. You could get to all of them on the Streetcar for only 7 cents and a transfer. There were dances every Thursday-Saturday night with the best local artists. If you wanted to do some fishing, the north shore and the Mississippi Gulf Coast were a short drive away.
